The Browns Had 9 Sacks, Justin Fields Had 6 Completions, And The Bears Had 6 Points
The stats from this one are truly unbelievable. 9 times sacked, 1 passing yard. 6 completions, 6 points. 42 plays, 47 yards of total offense. Welcome to being a starting quartberback in the NFL, Justin Fields!
But seriously, at what point do you feel bad for him? He's supposed to be the future of the franchise. Everyone's been calling for him to start over Andy Dalton. He finally gets his chance. All eyes were on Cleveland today. And then his line offensive line looked like the kind of truck that wakes you up at 4:30 in the morning once a week. We're talking GARBAGE.
Giphy Images.Personally, I began to feel bad for the rookie when he just got sacked for the EIGHTH time, the entire stadium of 70,000 people was chanting "MYL-ES GAR-RETT", and he knew he had to go back in and drop back to pass again against this guy.
Getty Images.I wouldn't be able to do it. If you gave me Fields offensive line, I simply would not line up across from Myles Garrett. Especially after we saw him attempt murder on live television. But it's not just Garrett, it's Jadeveon Clowney (2 sacks) as well. If this was grade school, those two would be suspended for 3 days each because they were straight bullying Chicago's line today. Seriously, how old is Justin Fields? If he's not 18 yet, I think the Bears general manager should be charged with Child Endangerment.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Justin Fields going forward. That line and that offense is BAD. But let's be clear, the Browns defense was pretty damn good today, as well. That's what we've been waiting for. That was good to see.
On the other side of the ball, I'm not sure how I feel. Looking at the postgame stats, how can I complain? Chubb got 22 carries. Hunt had 80+ yards on the ground and 70+ yards in the air. Baker didn't turn the ball over. And OBJ got 9 targets in his first game back, averaging 16 yards a catch. Looks good! But something didn't look right with the offense today. We need to get better. 5 sacks, while only half of what the Bears gave up, is still too much. And I'd like to see us score TOUCHDOWNS, not kick 4 field goals. Either way, a 26-6 win is nothing to whine and complain about. Especially when you outgain the opponent 418 to 47. My god, the more I type the more I feel bad for our friends out in Chicago. Could you imagine having an NFL team that bad?
Oh, and as I type this, the Chiefs just lost to fall to 1-2. We officially control our own destiny for HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE.
