"I'll Tell Them You Said Hi" Is The Biggest Collective Lie Told By Society

We all are. Because at some point every single day, we all tell the same lie to each other. Maybe you're talking to someone you haven't seen in a while. It's a friendly conversation amongst pals and it'll end with the one person saying to the other, "tell your family I said hi". To which you reply, "will do".
What I want to know is how many times is that message ever actually relayed? How many times has somebody said to you, "tell so and so I say hello" and then you actually go on to tell that person. I'd venture to guess the average is somewhere around absolutely fucking never. Maybe I'm projecting a little bit here because I know sure as shit that I never relay the message, but I feel like that would be the majority here.

And if nobody is never actually relaying that message well then why is the request always made? Why do we, people who never actually get around to telling people that other people say hello, make that request in the first place? Probably because we just want to seem polite in the moment, I suppose. But at the end of the day, we're really just forcing whoever we're talking to into being a dirty, filthy liar. Which isn't polite in the slightest.
Perhaps it's time that we all band together and just start telling the truth. When somebody asks you to "tell so and so I said hi", just tell them you're probably not going to do it unless you somehow end up talking to that exact person within the next 5 minutes. Unless you magically happen to come by that person in your very next encounter with another human, chances are you're not going to pass the message along. A man (or woman, it's 2021) is only as good as his word.
