Lori Lightfoot Has Softened Her Tone And Now Says She Is Willing To Work With The Bears To Keep Them In Chicago

"I am a Bears fan. I want the Bears to stay in the city of Chicago. And we are willing to work with them to try to address their concerns. But I’ve got to do it in a way that is fiscally prudent and doesn’t preclude other uses in that stadium," Lightfoot

Well, well, well. That is a FAR different tone than the our dear Mayor had in June when it was announced that the Bears had put in a formal offer on the Arlington Race Course location

Sounds like it is no longer just a negotiating tactic and if it was, perhaps it worked because Lightfoot now appears to be a more captive audience. Softening the tone on the Bears in Soldier Field, talking about refunding the police. That 2023 election must be top of mind already!

I think most people basically agree that they want the Bears to stay in Chicago, but also recognize that Soldier Field sucks. It was outdated basically as soon as it re-opened. They need more capacity, they probably want a roof for a Final Four, and just a better overall experience for the fans of an iconic franchise. It's not too much to ask and maybe now that another viable option is on the table the City and the Bears can reach an agreement on how to make that happen.

Ideally...make Soldier Field a state of the art stadium at the current location and leave Arlington as a race track. That's a sports fans' win-win. A win-win-win because then I would also win because my horses would have a local home

Side note…our group with Crowns Way is having a VERY nice year. Smokin Jay has become a legit horse. So much so that we are going to get his baby sister and other horses and we should be opening up the group again to new shareholders. Feel free to email me if you're interested. It's been the best thing to happen to me during quarantine. So much fun.
