The Details Around The Clippers New Arena Are Out And It Looks Incredible

It feels like forever ago we initially got the news of the Clippers wanting and planning to build their new arena. It's hard to try and become the team of LA while still playing in the same building as the Lakers. They needed their own spot. Back in 2019, they told us it was coming

Now in 2021, I find that video pretty funny. Patrick Beverley is gone. Doc Rivers was immediately fired after another postseason choke job, I mean who could have seen that coming back in 2019! The big thing though is that both Kawhi and Paul George are locked up long term. They seem like important pieces when you're planning to open a new arena. Will that still be the case in 2024? Who the hell knows. That's an eternity in the NBA. A lot can change over the course of 3 seasons.

At the same time, you think Steve Ballmer gives a shit? He's rich as hell. In fact, calling him rich as hell probably doesn't do him justice. He wanted to make a splash and that arena does the trick. Is it me of is that picture of the court/stands pretty crazy? The seats look like they straight up. I'm not sure I've ever seen a courtside cabana before, how does that work? Just a bunch of beds around the floor? That seems rather outrageous. Where you can tell Ballmer really gets it is the double the toilets part. Oh your favorite team's arena only has a standard amount of toilets? Your owner must be poor as shit.

I'm sure there will be some that think this is all a gigantic waste of money since LA will always be a Lakers town, but you never know what can happen. By 2024 LeBron should probably be on his last leg. Westbrook will be gone. AD will be there, but who knows what the two teams look like in 3 years. It's not crazy to suggest the Clippers might be better. Half the Lakers roster right now will be close to 40 by that time. Getting the talent was step 1 for the Clippers. If they are able to keep George/Kawhi by 2024, you have the that. Then they had to find a legit coach. Doc was alright, and Ty Lue has proven to be legit. Now they need their own arena, and it wouldn't hurt if that arena is over the top. That's basically the trend in professional sports. Look at what's happening in the NFL. When you're as rich and successful as these owners, building gigantic billion dollar stadiums is what gets their dick hard.

The Clippers already have the 3rd most expensive roster at $166,189,668. That's not changing anytime soon, and now you can add this $1.2B arena to Ballmer's tab. I bet he doesn't even look at the bills, he just blindly signs the checks. That my friends is a feeling that our normal brains cannot even begin to comprehend.
