Cris Carter Resorts To Ripping Big Ben In Attempt To Stay Relevant

Cris Carter went on Good Morning Football this morning and did what he does best - make an ass of himself.

In one of the amazingly creative GMFB segments, the question was asked "which of these two QBs will have a better postgame press conference in Week 2?" with the options being Kyler Murray or Big Ben. Here's what Carter had to say:

"I've been covering Ben his whole career. And Ben makes excuses. Ben complains. Ben brings that attention to himself. So he's going to be complaining about that offensive coordinator. Ben ain't the sharpest QB we've had play in the NFL - For real."

Jeeeeesus Christ is this gasbag narrative so tired, old, and lazy. Typical Cris Carter. It's sad, but then again so is Cris Carter's TV career at the moment. What is this? His 3rd network in the last five years? Yeah, Ben's a problem though, Cris. Find a mirror.

Since I know for damn sure that ol' CC didn't do a lick of research and look into anything about Big Ben or the Steelers before today's show on national TV, I did the work for him. Here's Roethlisberger's quotes from after Sunday's win in Buffalo:

Did you or offense feel any extra pressure?

Big Ben: "We anticipate that a little bit. The bumps in the road the offense are going to have. Newness…the kind of stability - what we expect is our defense to carry us. I told them that afterwards. Appreciated their efforts, appreciated what they do, not losing faith in us. There's going to be other times throughout this year that they're going to have to carry us…this was a team win. Offense, defense, special teams, and that's what I think I'm most proud about.

Was the wind causing any problems out there?

Big Ben: "The wind was a factor, but it was not an excuse. It was different."

What was the biggest adjustment for the changes offensively in the second half?

Big Ben: "I think it was just guys settling in. We had a lot of first timers out there. That's a hostile place. Those fans are awesome. They were loud. It was very, very loud…and so a lot of environmental factors. That's fans, that's weather, that's a really good defense, a good team, and you know what I'm proud of the guys because, I hate to use a Coach Tomlin saying, but they didn't blink.

So all of Carter's critiques are thrown out the window within the first three questions in Sunday's post game press conference. It's honestly all bullshit. It's lazy. It's become a thing - like hating Nickelback - for hacks like Carter to get on air and think they're clever by hashing out shit that Big Ben maybe would have said his first five years in the league.

What was even worse is later on in the segment Carter said along the lines of "and did you see Ben trying to take credit for TJ Watt getting paid?"

Uhhh what? So because during a press conference the dude says "he's a big reason why we renegotiated my contract so he could get paid" then doubled down and said the dude "should get paid whatever the heck he wants" that's…taking credit? We've had to hear for a decade how Tom Brady "takes less money" so admirably so they can sign guys and make the team better yet when Big Ben does it he's being dramatic and taking credit? Fuck off, Cris.

Aaron Rodgers primma donna ass spends an entire offseason openly and passively aggressively bashing his team, his owners, his GM, his coach, then comes out and gets his ass absolutely handed to him by Jameis Winston and tools like Cris Carter just turn a blind eye. It's a joke.

But hey Cris I understand ya gotta do what ya gotta do to try and stay on TV I guess. Luckily for you nowadays there's so many options to be employed when it inevitably doesn't work out at NFL Network.
