If This Rumor About Being Able To Play N64 Games Again Are True, I'm Not Going Outside For A Long, Long Time

[Daily Star] - As well as releasing a snazzy new OLED edition of the console, Nintendo will reportedly add emulators for classic N64 games to their subscription-based Switch Online service.

After previously predicting that the Game Boy and Game Boy Color will be added to the service very soon, Nate The Hate claimed on his podcast that an additional platform will be added to Switch Online:

He said: "Eurogamer [noted] that additional platforms will also be added to Nintendo Switch Online in the future."

Nate continued: "That information is accurate and one of the platforms that will be coming to the Nintendo Switch Online in the future is the revolutionary Nintendo 64."

I don't care if this is a rumor. I don't care if this isn't even 'true' N64. You put the words the possibility of playing N64 games into the universe I'm going to get rock hard. N64 is the GOAT console and it's not a debate. I won't listen to that argument. It's the console I grew up with. The console the greatest generation grew up with. The generation that had it all. Life before the Internet, backyard baseball, ghost in the graveyard, flashlight tag and then Backyard Baseball on the computer and N64. It's iconic through and through. This summer was the 25th anniversary of the release of N64 and all I could think about is how much I miss it.

So guess what? Yeah, if this happens I'm buying a Nintendo Switch as a 34-year old. Not exactly sure how it works, but I'll figure it out. Just give me the chance to play Fox College Hoops 99, Mario Kart 64, Griffey baseball, Mario Party, Mario Golf, Madden 99 and even more. Now I was never a good Goldeneye player but I respect the greatness. I was never into Zelda or anything like that. But those old school N64 games are some of the most important and influential things in my life. Shit, when I travel with my one buddy we still hop in the back, make the wives drive and play some Mario Kart to pass the time.

That's still my old school controller. I was and still am a sucker for that see-thru purple controller. If you're old enough you know how important it was to have YOUR controller and YOUR characters. You raced with the same character (Yoshi) in Mario Kart. You played with the same teams in sports games. It was as important as anything else when you were 11-years old. Hell, even with the old WCW vs nWo wrestling game you had a go-to wrestler. Never be a big guy. It was always the best to play with someone who could fly around and pull off cool moves. Shit, I'd do anything to play Cruisin USA and Wave Race 64 that came with the console. Low key fire games.

Don't get me wrong. I get the fact we all become old and times change. We have a million channels, can find out news the second it happens and don't have to watch the bottom line for a score or to see if school was canceled. But man those were the days. Part of me misses those simple times where you'd have to go to Toys R Us to buy a video game and call your friend's house phone to invite them over. Begging your parents to let you have a sleepover so you and your boys could stay up late in the AOL Chatrooms and play video games. If this rumor comes true, I'll revert to that so fast.
