Best Promo Ever - Portland State's Head Coach Promises To Buy 'All The Beer' For Everyone Who Shows Up To Its Game This Week

[Oregon Live] - “I’ve got to get people to see my kids,” the Vikings’ coach said. “I like my team.”

Barnum extended the offer on Tuesday, unprompted.

“I’ve got a deal for you,” Barnum announced, “anybody who heard me on your show... just say ‘I heard Barney on the BFT’ at the Barney Beer Garden and I’ll buy your beer.

“I’m not buying your ticket, but I’ll buy your beer.”

How many beers? Said Barney: “All of them.”

I was never invested in Portland State football, but guess what? I may or may not have looked up a flight to Portland right now. Why not? Free beer. Can't be that expensive to get a ticket or get out there. Plus getting a beer at a sporting event is a great beer. I'd love if Mitch Barnhart would wake up and let us buy beer at Kentucky. But that's not the point. The point is this is the best promo in college football right now. You can't top this. You just have to walk up and say 'I heard Barney on the BFT.' That's pretty easy to remember. Best part? There's no limit. You just have to show up. Again, you can't beat this. 

Sure the team is 0-2. But they've played Hawaii and Washington State and actually hung relatively close. Not like they got their ass kicked. Now they get to play another D-II team. They should win this. So you get to win and drink free beer? No brainer. Like Coach Barnum says, if you want to watch another game just put it on your phone. Show up, cheer a little, drink a little and have a day. 

People love free shit. Not exactly breaking news there. But I still will argue that free beer is the best sort of free thing out there. Someone sends you a free drink or your buddy offers to get the round. That drink just tastes a little sweeter. Sure, you're going to repay it at some point, but in that moment a free beer tops it all. Go Vikings. 

Also I have no idea what it is about Portland State's coaches but I love them. They are lunatics and perfect.
