Foo Fighters won the first ever Global Icon Award, and Alicia Keys gave an awesome tribe to New York City. There were a ton of other memorable moments but those are the ones that stuck out to me. This was also the first VMAs in years that felt like a big deal and not just because of the star power. MTV seemed to tap into the culture in a way that they haven't in years. Part of me was hoping Britney came out and burnt the place down, but there's always next year. Fingers crossed they get it done.
