The Giants are in town and honestly guys I didn’t think it would hit me in the feels like this. We sat down with KB and talked through shit on Red Line Radio it's going to move your needle. That comes out next Tuesday so I’ll save the juice for next week. But at a higher level I’m more than capable of facilitating some healthy discourse about how hard it is to watch him walk around Wrigley on behalf of another club. No spoilers but he admitted he had absolutely no clue where to go or what to do as a visiting ball player. 7 seasons later and you just have to laugh at that kind of shit.
In some sense, I respect Jed for pulling the trigger and blowing things up. But I’m also just categorically disgusted with how casual we got to the point. The trail of mistakes leading to my emotions is paved with poor investments and minor league neglect. On one hand our payroll grew so top heavy without committing to any of the core. On the other, we completely gave up on developing quality big leaguers and had no way to build up around them. We rode a one way ticket right off a steep cliff and we’re paying the right price. Hell of a ride but we’re all dead for the time being. Meanwhile KB’s at 90 wins and making plans for a deep October run.
Call me a pussy but I’m legitimately happy for him. I don’t think people understand just how underrated and understated he is. The public persona painted by those with access has been nothing short of gross criminal misconduct. Ethics boards should be notified. Credentials should be burned. That I have to come forth with such a profound declaration on the morning of his return is such bullshit. Everyone should have access to the knowledge I have about Kris Bryant. The guy literally just wants to hit the ball hard and win baseball games and hang out with the boys and then get on with life. If you take away the 6’5 thing and the blue eyes and millions of dollars and awards and championships and legacies… take that away and I would say he reminds me a lot of Trent. Imagine having a bad word to say about Trent. That’s exactly how I feel about KB.
