The First Look At Keanu in The Matrix 4 Is Just John Wick
ICYMI, the Matrix 4 aka The Matrix: Resurrections is coming out December 22 of this year. Lana Wachowski returned to direct with Keanu, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith back to star. Also, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II(Aquaman), Neil Patrick Harris(HIMYM), Jessica Henwick(GoT), Jonathan Groff(Hamilton/Mindhunters), Priyanka Chopra(Quantico) and more coming on to the cast as well.
I was very curious about how they were going to navigate Keanu's look in this movie. It's been almost 20 years since he has been in the role, and to be frank, I just don't like seeing him without a beard. It was definitly jarring in the new Bill and Ted movie, but the character of Neo is extremely clean cut. I heard a few weeks ago, however, that he was going to be bearded in this movie which was a relief. What I didn't realize, however, was that he was literally going to look exactly like John Wick.
And it's not like that is crazy. John Wick is literally just Keanu with long hair and a beard. But the image of him in black, stanced up with that same killer look immediately makes me think of the greatest action character of the last 10 years. Was this on purpose to draw in people that were maybe hesitant to dive back into the Matrix since both previous sequels were sub-par? Perhaps. It's more likely that Lionsgate has an ironclad facial hair clause on Keanu's facial and head hair while John Wick 4 shooting is in session.
Either way, I'm excited to watch this because it will either get my matrix juices, which have been dormant for nearly 2 decades, flowing again. In fact, I'll get them started now by watching my favorite fight scene from Reloaded.
