A Chicago Travesty: Maxwell Street Polish (Jim's Original) Will No Longer Be Open Overnight

This is honestly fucked up.

Haven't been in years, but the reliability of being able to have this place whenever the hell you wanted was always the beauty of it. You simply pull up toss the hazards on (completely ignore the flood of rats across the street) and go hammertime on a polish with a couple of buddies no matter what time it was.* Very sad to me that the UIC kids as well as the rest of us won't be able to have it as an option when we're in a drunken pinch.

The whole article is worth the read, but this one line is pretty good:

“Our concern right now with closing is that we haven’t been closed. Ever. I’m 52 years old. I’ve never seen the store closed. We don’t even have locks on the windows,” Christopoulos told WBBM Newsradio’s Steve Miller on Thursday.

Much like the Vegas casinos who had to board up the doors when the pandemic happened it's always amusing to me to see these places kinda frazzled on how they're going to shut it down for a bit.

I haven't been able to find out if this goes for Express Grill as well. Hopefully they can continue 24/7, but regardless it'll be sad to see the Jim's side closed.
