Chicago's Nightmare Is Over. The Serial Egg Thrower Has Been Caught!
ABC Chicago - The hunt for a serial egg thrower in Chicago's North and Northwest sides appears to be over.
The suspected culprit has been fired from his job after a Facebook group managed to track the truck being used in the attacks to a business on the Southwest Side. The alleged egg thrower's now-former employer tells ABC7 it was "unaware" that its delivery driver was engaged in this unauthorized conduct."
Charges have not yet been filed.
The Facebook group called Chicago Egg Hunters claims over 500 members, some of them with stories of egg attacks as far back as February. The group was founded by Moshe Tamssot who says it was able to track down the truck and, he hopes, provide an example of how a community can fight back.
"Understand there are other people on the other end who are watching," he said. Tamssot said he was asked by someone in his West Loop group about smashed eggs on the street. Tamssot said he realized he had been seeing smashed eggs too.
"I'm like, where are these eggs coming from?" he said.
He reached out to other virtual neighborhood groups, collecting information on dozens of such attacks tied to a delivery truck going back two years. Soon he had a photo of the truck's license plate and tracked the truck to the Southwest Side. He recruited volunteers who scouted the area and found the truck parked in a business lot. On Monday, he was on the phone with the store's manager, who he said promised him to speak to his delivery truck drivers and discipline them. The store manager told the Sun-Times the truck belongs to his company but has been parked, unused, in the store's lot for the past month.
The manager said he hires many short-term employees to make deliveries and has no way to prove who may have thrown eggs.
You know those lame the Facebook commercials that Zuckerberg's team of robots trot out showing how the facebook has changed the world for the better?
Yah, total bullshit because it's made it exponentially worse in every way, but this is a case where they are actually dead on.

Chicago Egg Hunters is a 735-member Facebook group with dozens of members who have reported being hit with eggs by someone who was in a white truck.
In the group, 86 people have reported being attacked, seeing the truck in question or seeing broken eggs on the ground or on buildings.
Most of the reported cases have happened on the North Side.
Somehow these internet sleuths were able to track down the truck and trace it to a Value City Furniture on the South Side.
The store manager told the Sun-Times the truck belongs to his company but has been parked, unused, in the store’s lot for the past month.
The manager said he hires many short-term employees to make deliveries and has no way to prove who may have thrown eggs.
The manager — who the Sun-Times isn’t naming because neither he nor his employees have been charged — said he hasn’t been contacted by police but would cooperate.
We have to give this guy the electric chair right?
This is not only a crime (battery) but it's also a major example of "pre-crime". Any maniac that goes around egging innocent people (86 of them at least) for weeks on end has some serious screws loose. If this guy is let out free to roam the streets again you can all but guarantee we will have a Joker situation on our hands soon.
p.s. - remember those anti-drug commercials that ran around 9/11 saying that if you were a junkie and bought drugs you were supporting Al Qaeda? If the Walter E. Smith chicks are smart like I think they are, they'll start running similar negative campaign ads targeting "Value City Furniture" telling customers if you buy from them you support (egg) terrorism.
