BREAKING NEWS: The Patriots Have Released Cam Newton; The Mac Jones Era Begins.

This is just coming out and there is a blender drink of thoughts and emotions swirling in my head right now. Too many to process at the moment. 

There is much to be said about Cam Newton and all he did for this franchise and this region. One, he came here under nearly impossible circumstances. He was tasked with replacing the Irreplaceable One. He was signed at the end of June. He had to pick up a new and complex system via virtual learning. He had to bond with teammates he barely got to come in contact with. He did it all while getting paid like a long snapper. And he succeeded in all these respects. While being fully accountable when things went wrong. And while being the best athlete interview in this region since Pedro Martinez. 

Where he lacked was on the field. Pulled three times in 15 starts. Eight touchdowns on the season. It wasn't for lack of effort. It just didn't work. And this season he was given every opportunity to keep the QB1 job. He just simply got outplayed at every turn by Mac Jones. 

Again, those are just the baseline thoughts. For now, realize this is why the Mac Jones Era just began in New England.
