Ryan Reynolds Perpetuates Unrealistic Boyfriend Standards In 'Free Guy'

Shame on you, Ryan. As usual, your incredibly charming, charismatic and enchanting personality, as well as your undisputedly hot face continue to set the standard for the boyfriends that don't exist on earth. Look at @GinaLeeDoss, she's disappointed in her HUSBAND because of you! She might get a divorce!!

Free Guy was fantastic, but for those of us who saw the movie for Ryan Reynolds alone, and not for the 'gamer' aspects, we've all been bamboozled...again. How are we supposed to go through life now looking for our perfect man, when we've all fallen deeply in love with Guy from Free City? We all knew it would happen. He's a hard working, kind, responsible man, who sticks to a routine. He stops dead in his tracks after seeing the love of his life (Molotov Girl). He steals some super-sunglasses and starts lookin like Clark Kent. He fights tooth and nail to get on Molotov Girl's level, so she'll talk to him. He quite literally breaks the system that confines him, so he can be with her. He puts on a Henley (hot guy shirt) and becomes a textbook hero with tons of money. He takes her on a date for her favorite ice cream and to do her favorite things, not because he asked her what they were, but because he already knew. He saves his entire UNIVERSE to help her, putting the fact that it also saves his own life as an afterthought.

Then, when all is said and done, Guy is basically the King of Free City Life, Molotov Girl has to face facts and realize she can't date an AI person in a computer. A sad, grueling truth about perfection - its computer generated. It's time for a breakup. And what do you know? Even the breakup is perfect! Guy understands how difficult it is for her to do, puts into words what she can't seem to say, and points her in the direction of the 'real life author' for Guy (Steve Harrington from Stranger Things.) Sweet, adorable, swoon.

Will Steve Harrington live up to Guy's potential? No. He's a human. Millie/Molotov Girl/Jodie Comer will eventually be disappointed by him, I'm sure. Maybe he wrote Guy, but he isn't Guy. He's got great hair, but is he handsome/buff/rich/a super hero? Unfortunately, no.

Another girl's life ruined by the unrealistic standards set by Ryan Reynolds. We have to stop letting these tragedies occur. Women everywhere are struggling. Please, Ryan, have a little sympathy for the mortals.
