Well Actually, The Process Was A Massive Success As Multiple Sixers Will Be In The Next Adam Sandler Movie
'Twas many moons ago when the Philadelphia 76ers men's professional basketball team very openly admitted to the world that their intentions were to be absolute garbage for years in order to stock up on draft picks and assets to eventually one day compose a championship caliber roster. At that moment, The Process had begun. And for some reason, most of us in Philly just assumed that the final goal in mind for this organization was to win at least one (1), but hopefully multiple, championships.
Now maybe my memory is just a bit fuzzy, but I don't recall an actual end goal ever being established. I don't remember the meeting where the Sixers explicitly stated all of this was for a championship. Because if it were? Well then I can see how Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons failing to even get out of the 2nd round of the playoffs in their career so far could be deemed a complete and total failure. You could come to the conclusion that we have been hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray, run amok, and flat out deceived.
But what if--and you're going to have to stick with me here for just a few more moments--what if this wasn't for championships? What if this wasn't for rings or banners or parades? What if all of this was actually for something much, much bigger?
Something like multiple Sixers players and personnel making cameo appearances in an upcoming Adam Sandler film? Because if that were the plan all along, well then The Process is a massive success.
And I'll be honest. When I think back on my life and tally up all the most impressionable moments and valuable memories I have from my childhood, Adam Sandler movies account for a helluva lot more of them than Philly sports do. Don't get me wrong, I love my teams. But growing up in the era of Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Mr. Deeds, Big Daddy. Hell, even getting into the Wedding Singer, Little Nicky, and The Waterboy. All movies that my life would be drastically different without.
So when you really think about it, Adam Sandler movies mean more than NBA Championships. Sure, it would be nice if the Sixers weren't the saddest group of underachieving mental midgets on the planet when it comes to basketball. But to have the Sixers involved in the newest Adam Sandler movie? Well I think that's equally deserving of a parade down Broad St. as a championship would be.
Trust The Process.
