I Finally Tried My First Taylor Ham/Pork Roll, Egg, & Cheese Sandwich This Weekend And It Was SPECTACULAR

Blogger's Note: My actual sandwich is not pictured because I inhaled it before I even thought to take a picture like an absolute amateur and I would never put ketchup on a breakfast sandwich of any sort because that's even more amateur

There is a constant debate about what is #blogworthy or not around these parts but I had to let it be known that I finally threw some Taylor Ham/Pork Roll on a sandwich with egg and cheese on it after countless people from the Garden State screamed at me to try one after this blog.

Now this is the thing. I've never been a big ham guy. Not for breakfast, not for lunch, and certainly not for dinner. As you can tell by one look at me, I dig the taste of some salty pork. But ham has never been my thing like bacon or sausage are because it always felt like a meat of the Poors.

However I noticed every single time there was breakfast sandwich banter on the timeline, people from across the Hudson would scream at me with a ton of Jersey vitriol about how I had to try a Taylor Ham/Pork Roll. I would say I'd try it but never actually would because I didn't want to get involved in the battle over the correct name to call it and figured Taylor Ham/Pork Roll was just a fancy name for some sort of fake ass SPAM meat.

However I was at the Jersey Shore over the weekend, I decided to finally try it despite my reservations since being away with kids caused me not to care about life let alone what I put into my body and it was fucking DELICIOUS. I'm not sure how to explain it outside of saying it was like eating extra salty bacon with a kinda similar but also different texture. Jersey gets a bad wrap for a lot of things, some of them justified some of them not. But their unofficial breakfast meat is a Must Try for any out of towners that had me fist bumping like a motherfucker.

Let me clarify one thing however. I am not choosing a side in the Taylor Ham/Pork Roll Civil War. I know people have used this phrase a lot lately, but I need to do more research before I feel comfortable in my decision. I feel like Taylor Ham is a Jersey thing while Pork Roll is a South Jersey/Philly thing. As a Giants and Mets fan, I will likely skew to whatever Philly people don't say since they are the scourge of my sports fandom.

I'm also still a bacon, egg, and cheese guy by default and will put sausage next on my list whenever I eat breakfast around the Casa de Clem. But whenever I am in the breakfast sandwich market while somewhere in the Garden State, I will be getting myself a Taylor Ham/Pork Roll, egg, & cheese and then responsibly betting the BEC on the Barstool Sportsbook since we just went live in New Jersey today. I suggest you do the same.
