Football Is Here - The Raiders And Rams Had To Cancel A Joint Practice Because They Kept Getting Into Massive Brawls
The biggest shock here is that Jon Gruden was the one pulling his team to the bus. I would have assumed Gruden would be in there talking about how much he likes the fight man. How he wants guys that are dogs and all those other cliche lines that we love from him. It's absolutely zero shock that these teams are getting into brawls. It's football practice. I don't think there's an easier guarantee in life than a fight during football practice. Those dudes HATE practicing, probably because it's always a million degrees outside, you get a couple cheap shots and then you have a hundred people on the roster. Pretty easy to see how fights happen. I don't even care, I'd want my guys to have a little fight in them. Don't hurt each other and shit, but don't be afraid to get in a scrap.
I feel like I need to add this in every blog where there's a football fight. STOP THROWING PUNCHES AT A GUY WEARING A HELMET. It drives me insane. Yeah, I know I'm not a 'football guy', I'm a basketball guy. But I have common sense. When you get in a fight, you don't look for a guy wearing a goddamn helmet and throw a punch at that trying to break your own hand. Politely ask them to remove said helmet like a man and then throw a haymaker or two. Have some respect for the fight game and the helmet will be removed.
This lets me know it's football season though. The first week or two everyone is all happy and glad that practices are back, getting in the swing of things. Now it's been too long of seeing the same people and fights happen. We're getting so close to real games that matter. The weather is starting to turn, the allergies are getting stronger and it's almost time. Those perfect Sunday mornings. Wake up, get the chili going and wings on the smoker while you watch some soccer. Fuck around with your fantasy lineup. Then at 12:45 you get your beer, get in your favorite seat, get some pals over and start getting the dish ready. 1pm comes and you have the TV's all set to the right channels and you don't move until midnight. Can't fucking wait.
