Congrats To The Orioles For Having Their Second 14-Game Losing Streak Of The Season!

Holy shit is this bad baseball right now. Not just right now, all season mostly but man has it kicked up another notch the last few weeks. And don't get me wrong, we knew the Orioles would be bad, but I thought they were too far along in the rebuild to still be putting up historically bad numbers. With last nights loss to the Rays the Orioles now have two (2) different 14 game losings streaks on the year. Two different 14-game losing streaks in about 120 days of each other is insane. A team hadn't put together losing streaks like that since the 1935 Boston Braves but the O's have done it this year. It's frustrating watching this team get their teeth kicked in every night, they've got a run differential of -222 on the season and sit there with the worst record in baseball at 38-81. Not to mention they're 1-14 against the Rays this season and finish off a four game series tonight in which they'll look to try and not get swept for the fourth straight series. They haven't won since that damn cat was on the field in New York, seems like months ago. Sure they've got the #2 ranked farm system and are in the third year of a rebuild, but at some point aren't you supposed to start seeing SOME progress from guys at your major league level? They've got John Means, Ryan Mountcastle, Trey Mancini, and Cedric Mullins and that is about it.

We knew they wouldn't spend for big free agents or any MLB level guys in the offseason and it shows. It's way past embarrassing for the organization now. I still have full faith in Mike Elias and the front office to turn this around, the farm system and top prospects show there is a future and it's not far away. But right now it's straight up depressing to watch this team. I still tune in because I know in the middle of November on a Tuesday I'll be craving a baseball game to watch so I have to savor anything I can get, but holy shit this is tough. Hard not to feel for the players too. It takes a toll on them, you know it does. Matt Harvey said he's never been on a losing team like this and he played on some bad teams recently. John Means said he and some others are losing sleep, this isn't easy for those guys and it sucks. The fans are getting verrrrrry close to being pretty upset with the front office and some moves that haven't been made regarding getting anyone who resembles a starting pitcher. I think those are the moves they'll look at this offseason and hopefully we see some sort of step forward, god I hope so. Night in and night out their pitching is hot garbage and they're down 5 before you can blink, the bullpen has been god awful for months, this may be the worst team we've seen in some time. Just in this 14-game losing streak alone they've given up 131 runs and are -91 in run differential. The Orioles magic number for getting eliminated from playoff contention is 8, it's still August!

One more against the Rays today and then a series at home vs the Braves and then the Angels come to town. No way this losing streak gets to 20 does it? 21? 22?! Man I hope this rebuild works.
