Roman Polanski Is A Bad Guy
Today is August 18th, and if at any point today you look at one of those websites that tells you celebrity birthdays, you will inevitably see that the following are celebrating:
- Robert Redford (85) actor and director
- Andy Samberg (43) comedian and actor
- Masta Killa (52) rapper and member of the Wu-Tang Clan
and
- Roman Polanski (88) Polish-French film director
And it's that last one that sticks in my craw.
Roman Polanski is no longer a Polish-French film director… At least not primarily… He is a pedophile and rapist., and he has been for over 4 decades.
In 1977, Roman Polanski drugged and sodomized a 13-year-old girl in Jack Nicholson's house, and then he fled the country to avoid persecution. He's been a fugitive ever since.
And there is no "allegedly" involved here…Those are the facts.
On February 1, 1978, after 42 days in jail, Polanski fled the US while awaiting final sentencing
We know exactly what happened because Polanski admitted to it and later wrote about it in astonishing detail in his autobiography, Roman by Polanski, published six years after he fled the US.
In March of 1977, Polanski, who was 43 at the time, took a child, Samantha Gailey, who he knew was 13 years old, to Jack Nicholson’s house to take photos of her for a magazine. There, he gave her champagne and quaaludes.
He then had sex with her, drove her home, and, the next day, he was arrested.
Since then, this teaspoon-filled-with-cum has gone on to direct 13 films with such high-profile actors as Sigourney Weaver, Harrison Ford, Johnny Depp, Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Kate Winslet, and many more.
He won an Oscar for Best Picture in 2002 for The Pianist but was unable to accept the award in person because… You know… He was still on the run for raping a 13-year-old some 25 years prior.
But that dubious little stain on his resume was apparently not enough to stop the Hollywood elite from giving him a rousing ovation after his name was announced.

Since OJ Simpson was never convicted, he is still introduced as "former NFL running-back" or "avid golfer".
R Kelly's label is only a few months away from being officially changed from "R&B artist" to "deviant who used young girls as his urinal".
And I don't know what they will ultimately do with Bill Cosby, but "Jell-O spokesman" no longer seems to cut it.

But there is no gray area with Roman… He's a bad guy who did a terrible thing and he should not be supported.
Even on his birthday.
