Ryan Murphy Is Starting A New Anthology Series, 'American Sports Story,' With The First Episode About Aaron Hernandez

American Sports Story will expand the franchise to re-examine a prominent event involving a sports figure through the prism of today’s world and will tell the story from multiple perspectives. The first season will be based on the Boston Globe and Wondery podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. It will chart the rise and fall of the former New England Patriots tight end who was convicted for murder and ultimately took his own life. Thematically, it will explore the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide and their legacy in sports and American culture.

I wonder if Ryan Murphy just sits in his house all day and thinks about what he can do to make more money? Is he one of the richest guys ever right now? American Horror Story, American Crime Story, American Horror Stories - not to mention Glee, The Politician, Nip/Tuck, and about a million other things. Ryan Murphy just prints money. Now he's getting into the Sports anthology game. Who doesn't want to see an overly dramatic depiction of Aaron Hernandez' life? With the exception of a few of the Horror seasons, and a few of the Glee seasons, Ryan rarely misses. Crime story with OJ was fantastic, this will likely be no exception.

While we're all waiting around for this (I'll be waiting for the "Love Story" anthology series that was also greenlit) - I highly suggest everyone check out the new "American Horror Stories" series on Hulu. Each episode is horror heavy and mostly standalone, with a BIG TIME Black Mirror spin. I've been hoping for something to replace the nightmare that Black Mirror became after Bandersnatch, and this is scratching the itch for me. Maybe it will for you too.
