Is Britney Free????? Britney Spears' Father Has Stepped Down As Her Conservator

TMZ - Jamie Spears has agreed it's time to step down as conservator of Britney's estate -- he just said so in new legal docs -- and he wants to work with the court on an orderly transition.

We've learned Jamie's lawyer is filing legal docs in which he says, "There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr. Spears as the Conservator of the Estate … and it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears' best interests."

He does say he essentially saved Britney when she was "in crisis, desperately in need of help" 13 years ago, adding, "Not only was she suffering mentally and emotionally, she was also being manipulated by predators and in financial distress. Mr. Spears came to his daughter's rescue to protect her."

Look, I don't know how legal mumbo jumbo works. I'm no lawyer. I'm just a fan of Britney Spears, like we all are. But if I'm reading this correctly, Britney's father has stepped down as the conservator of Britney, which to me reads that she is…free???? Like, he was the person handling her life, especially her finances, and many people thought she was being held captive by him. And now it looks like her battle with him is over, a huge moment for sure.

The only thing I'm going to say is I hope all of the #FreeBritney people are right and nothing goes haywire. I mean, multiple judges sided with Jamie Spears and kept her under this conservatorship for over a decade, even as recently as last month. I'm assuming they have a pretty solid reason for that. And the second she got full control of her IG, she started posting rather questionable pictures, ya know? So let us hope this story has a happy ending. 

But for now, I'm happy for Britney. I'll watch the Oops I Did It Again video in her honor tonight.
