Ernie Johnson's Incredible Speech to Alabama's Football Team are the Best Words You'll Hear All Year and Could Honestly Change Your Life
We all do this. Sometimes in the course of a busy day, you come across a thing that sounds like it might be interesting but you feel like you don't have the time to click on it. Or maybe you decide you'll get to it when you have some downtime later but it gets lost in the fast-moving stream that is the internet. I came this close to skipping over this just now as I was doing my usual morning hard-target search for blog worthy topics because I didn't want to get sidetracked for five minutes on an inspirational pep talk when there are hundreds of people on our cultural radar deserving of being mocked and ridiculed.
Now I'm sitting here wiping my eyes and grateful I did.
Holy moly. I don't want to add too much and just let Ernie Johnson's thoughts speak for themselves. He had me at the distinction between "got to" jobs and "get to" jobs. Everyday for the last however many years, I've been grateful to have a "get to" job. Blessed with a life where I don't have to do anything for money that doesn't involve expressing thoughts. And with it, comes a responsibility to do it as well, to the best of your ability. I think I speak for everyone at Barstool when I say we take that seriously.
But then the stories about Johnson's adoptive son? How the nurse in Romania who said the child is "no good" due to his Muscular Dystrophy, was recruited by his high school basketball coach to be an example to his players and became an inspiration to the entire school? Video pepper spray.
For most of my childhood, my moms' only brother, our Uncle Richard, lived with us because he was special needs and couldn't live on his own. I can't fathom what our lives would've been like if he'd been abandoned as a child, called "no good" by someone charged with his care, and was never part of our lives. The lessons you learn about empathy, compassion and love while caring for someone in need of help is a true gift. One that Johnson's son has given people and he's sharing with the world. And is worth us passing on.
So spend the time to watch this and try to "Be a Better Human." And I'll try to do the same. Telling someone "I love you" is a great place to start. Thanks for reading our content. Love you Stoolies.

Now I'll get back to the usual dopey content. Because I "get to." Thanks for that, too.
