I Won Our Dessert Draft By Way Of The GOAT: Ice Cream Cake
On today's episode of LCB, which you can listen to via the convenient links below, we talked pissin' between subway cars, movie news, and reviewed the dog shit movie 'THE KISSING BOOTH 3'. More importantly, we did a category dessert draft which I destroyed.
Lets break down my picks:
CAKE: Ice Cream Cake (Pick 4 (4)) - Should it be under ice cream? Should it be under cake? Who cares! The point is that it is the GOAT desert and I got it with the 4th pick. Imagine getting LeBron with the 4th pick? Actually, relatively speaking, this is more like getting LeBron with like the 24th pick. Steal of the century! And while almost all Ice Cream cakes are good, I got the best one I've ever had in Cold stone Creamery's. I didn't even know they made ice cream cake until a few years ago. But now, I'll NEVER go back to any other brands.
Ice Cream: Soft Serve from Sonic (Pick 2 (5)) - Soft serve is so much better than scooped ice cream it's insane! It wins in every possible category you can judge on, and the soft serve from Sonic is incredible. DQ was 1b in my selection process here, followed by the soft serve at buffets. I don't know how to explain it, but that stuff hits different after stuffing your face with sub-par american/chinese food.
Cookie: Tates white chocolate macadamia (Pick 3 (12)) - I blasted trill for taking Tate's chocolate chip first overall because that isn't even their best flavor in my humble opinion. White Chocolate Macadamia is tricky. You gotta nail the salt to sugar balance and not many cookie places too. They end up with a cookie that is wayyyy too rich, sometimes with macadamia pieces that are too big, white chocolate pieces that are too big, or just too large in general. Tates version, however, is perfect. The thin crispy cookie has smaller macadamia pieces and smaller white chocolate pieces that help make it the PERFECT combination of sweet and salty. Not too rich or overwhelming, just a smooth, delicious ride.
Candy: Snickers Bar (Pick 4 (13)) - I really wanted Reese's Cups, but Jeff swiped them right before I could get them. I'm happy with my 1b, though. While better in ice cream form, I still enjoy their regular version.
WILDCARD: The Maple Nut Skillet Blondie from Applebees (Pick 5 (20)) - This is one of those things that I can't really explain to someone who has never had it. All I can tell you is that it is fucking fantastic. Imagine a perfectly baked, warm and cozy blondie (which is basically a vanilla brownie with brown sugar) with a big ole dollop of cold, maple-flavored ice cream concoction on top. It has this juxtaposition of texture and temperature between the two, but the flavors unite to make one, powerhouse bite.
