New York, He's Here! The Knicks Lock Up Julius Randle To A Very Reasonable 4 Year, $117 Million Deal

NEW YORK WE HERE AND SO IS JULIUS FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. HIT THE MOTHERFUCKING JPEG!!!

What a ride it has been for Knicks fans with Julius Randle. At this time last year, none of us would've wanted to give him a dollar to play basketball as he spinned his way into countless charges and turnovers.

Then in comes Leon Rose with Kenny Payne and Julius transforms himself into a 2nd Team All-NBA player that was the absolute leader of the most fun Knicks team I've experienced in forever to the point people wondered if he would be offered the supermax after next season.

Then came the playoffs where Julius came up brutally short and had Knicks fans wondering just how much you could invest in a guy that played that poorly in admittedly his first playoffs with a group of teammates that almost admittedly did him very little favors outside of Derrick Rose. Don't worry Knicks fans, I will not be showing any videos of that basketball hell. Instead I will be showing this wonderful image tweeted at me.

Photoshop SZN has never looked so fun

Well just like with pretty much every contract signed during the Leon Rose Era, the Knicks get a decent deal on a 26-year-old player fresh off his first All-NBA team for a little more than half the $200 million he could've demanded next year (which would've caused multiple people to jump off New York area bridges unless Julius became an MVP candidate). If Julius takes the next step or can even tread water at the level he was at last season, this deal is yet another win for the Knicks. Yes, typing that sentence almost caused my brain to explode.

Julius could've bet on himself by playing out the year, tweeting out the 😤  emoji every time he worked out, and seen what kind of payout he would get. Instead he locked into a team clearly on the rise with young, affordable talent and also gave the Knicks a little help on any moves they may want to make next summer.

And just like that, I forgive Julius Randle for making me go crazy for five games against the Hawks in May. Let Leon keep on cooking and let Thibs keep on building because life as a Knicks fan is actually fun again!
