A Texas State Senator Absolutely Flamed the Fuck Out of Vanderbilt on the Senate Floor

The Texas Senate held a meeting it called the Select Committee on the Future of College Sports on Monday night and some of the quotes that came out of it are unbelievable. But my personal favorite was Drew Springer going at Vanderbilt from the clouds. Texas might not even be in the SEC for another four years and they're already taking pot shots at the little guy. I love it.

And my guy Drew is absolutely right. Vandy is a Big 10 school that lucked into being located in the South and getting to hang around the big boys for 100 years or so and we let them stick around. The only sport it even belongs on the field with the rest of the conference in is baseball and that's only because of one coach and some interesting accounting as it relates to scholarship distribution.

The only reason anyone in the SEC would give a shit if Vandy left would be the loss of a trip to Nashville. Opposing fanbases are the only people keeping the Vandy ticket office in business, but they do it well. Vanderbilt Stadium is filled to the brim for every SEC game — it's with orange or red or whatever the color of that week's opponent is, but it's filled.

But y'all could still go to Nashville whenever you want. There is no shortage of events in that town to make a weekend out of. We could send Vanderbilt off to whatever conference wants to get its grades up tomorrow and everyone would move along just fine.

I'm glad to see the Texans are already getting in on the fun. I'm sure I will have my quarrels with them down the road, but this was a good start towards a successful partnership.
