Once Again I Find Myself Addicted To NBA Trade Rumors

They say the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem so I would like to take this opportunity to announce just that.

I am addicted to NBA trade rumors.

It happens every offseason. I know it's coming, I know I shouldn't believe 99.9% of what I see random accounts on Twitter put out, but I can't help it. It's not just rumors involving my favorite team either. I need them all. I crave them all. The bigger the star the better but my blood gets pumping when we're even talking about measly draft pick trades. Doesn't even have to be from Shams/Woj/Haynes/Stein etc either. That's extremely reckless but at the same time you know you do the same thing. From the end of the season until free agency ends, every basketball fan is essentially this gif while doing nothing but refreshing their timelines

Things especially heat up with bullshit rumors that in no way are real as soon as we get close to the NBA Draft, just like we are right now. You're seeing everything under the sun from guys like SGA suddenly being available for the right price, Daryl Morey literally asking for the entire Toronto Raptors roster plus the #4 pick for Ben Simmons, the Celtics and Pacers talking about Myles Turner for the 100000th time, Kyle Kuzma being offered for every star player in the league, a bunch of teams trying to move up in the draft by offering mostly trash, the Heat have already found a way to trade for like 10 people while only giving up Duncan Robinson, Kemba Walker apparently has positive trade value just 2 months after he was a negative asset, the list goes on and on and on.

The one rumor that actually panned out in real life was the Bledsoe/Grizzlies trade where we knew they were looking to shed Bledsoe + 10th pick in order to drop down to 17. What we didn't know was that Steven Adams and Valanciunas were going to be involved too. That's the beauty of this time of year. The shit we hear on Twitter almost never happens like what's being "reported", and the moves we do see nobody really knew anything about. Logic should tell you that means you should just ignore the "reports" or "sources" you see on your timeline, but you can't. This is one of the best parts of the NBA calendar for a reason. Every fanbase in the league is mocking up trades that bring in a star player for their trash. What time is better than now to tell someone their fake trade on Twitter that would never happen in a million years is delusional, but YOUR fake trade is actually genius and totally logical because it helps your favorite team.

We're living at a time of year where it's way less important to be accurate or right and way more important to get those Twitter engagement numbers up. The bigger the name/team the better. You bet your ass I'm playing along because like I said, I am addicted. In my opinion, the offseason is way more fun this way. As long as you know that deep down your favorite team will probably do nothing, I say have fun with it. Don't treat anything as fact until the big guns actually tweet/report it, but in terms of bullshit on Twitter? There's nothing better than NBA Trade season.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some timeline refreshing to do. Oh shit, look! Here we go! How about some Dame rumors!

See, this is way more fun than just believing Dame when he said he has not asked out and expects to be in a Blazers uniform next year
