It's Physically Impossible To Cheer Against Brandon Walker & The Mississippi State Bulldogs Tonight
Lots of shit going on here but really no better way to summarize it than saying there's absolutely no way you can cheer against Mississippi State tonight. Even if you're holding one of Mintzy's coveted 9-1 Vanderbilt tickets. Even if you're born and raised a diehard Vanderbilt baseball fan. All 6 of you. Even if you're Al fucking Leiter, there's zero percent chance you can cheer against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Doing so should put you on some kind of domestic terrorist watchlist. What kind of sick world do you want to live in? This might be a little dramatic but we're quite literally talking about a battle of Good vs. Evil. This isn't hard.
I've spent the last 10 days immersed in college baseball culture. I've met more people from all over than I could have imagined coming out here. It's been every bit of insightful and educational as much as it's been social and fun. And let there be no doubt that it's been a good time. Consider it a bucket list experience.
But along the way, there's been one thing that's stood out more than anything else during our time out here. Simply put, Mississippi State baseball fans are an amazing group of people. They have overrun Omaha like an extremely polite invasive species that just wants to hang out and party and be happy. The human imagination isn't capable of dreaming up what it's like hanging out with these folks. You actually have to go out and experience it for yourself and then my sentiment will make complete sense.
And maybe I'm jaded because there's an Omaha cowbell restriction in place and I'm not getting the full brunt of their presence. But for my money there isn't a more deserving group of people to win their first national title.
Tonight is the night they get it.
Hail State.
