Conan O'Brien Celebrated His Second To Last Show By Smoking A Big Fat Joint Live On Air With Seth Rogan

Source - He’s going out in a blaze of glory.  Sparking up cheers and applause as he took his first pull, Conan O’Brien shared a joint with weed-wielding comedian Seth Rogen on live television Tuesday.

The smoky stunt was one of the late-night talk show host’s swan song shenanigans leading up to the finale of his TBS series, “Conan,” which will air its last episode Thursday after 11 seasons. (He’s been a late-night fixture for 28 years if you include his run on NBC.)

O’Brien — who will be streaming his talents in a forthcoming weekly variety show for HBO Max in November  — found himself on the business end of a blunt after asking Rogen’s advice on how he should spend his “down time” in the months before beginning his new project.

I love Conan so much. I really do. I've written about him in the past as has Coley and we pretty much have the same stance, which is that he's the best. The best late night host, the best late night interviewer, and the best off the cuff guy on television. He's one of the last true authentically funny people with a TV show who's not afraid to go there. Which is why this video makes me so happy- because just he's over it. He was over it the second Jay Leno stole The Tonight Show from him and now he's smoking doobies on air with Seth Rogan as a final fuck you to the medium that screwed him over. No one was happier about that than Seth, by the way. He literally threw it arms up with joy the second Conan took a hit...

Good for him. I'm going to leave this blog here because I assume someone will write a more fitting tribute to Conan tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to seeing what he does on HBO Max. Here's what he had to say about that…

“We are winding down our TBS show,” O’Brien said in a video. “Some of you are probably wondering why am I doing this? Why end things here at TBS? And I’ll tell you, because a very old Buddhist monk once told me that to pick something up, you must first put something down.”

He joked, “I’ll be honest with you; he was drunk out of his skull and very belligerent, and I maintain you can pick up two things if you use both hands. He just got mad and started swinging at me, so I ended the conversation and took his advice.”

In a statement about his transition to HBO Max, O’Brien quipped, “In 1993, Johnny Carson gave me the best advice of my career: ‘As soon as possible, get to a streaming platform.’ “

“I’m thrilled that I get to continue doing whatever the hell it is I do on HBO Max, and I look forward to a free subscription,” he added.

God speed, Conan. Thanks for all the laughs.
