Brandon Walker Can Actually Be Happy For Once

Day 4 of the College World Series in Omaha was yet another exciting adventure. I had such high hopes for this event and they have been blown away despite the fact that I am the worst college baseball gambler in the very short history of being able to bet on it.

I was still in shock in the morning after this video broke the internet Monday night. During a mid game update, NC State hit a solo homer spoiling Jack Leiter’s no hitter as I mentioned the no hitter and said the 1st run would decide the game. I cannot believe this actually happened and it was my first Barstool video to cross 1 million views online. 

I announced Fade Mintz picks in the morning which I thought I was a great idea to capitalize on my misfortune to grow college baseball on the Barstool Sportsbook. Dave Portnoy disagreed by saying I was ruining a good thing already and it became a storyline for the day as he gave this emergency press conference calling me a moron.

We had another really good turnout for Picks Central at DJ’s Dugout. As a 5 year sports radio host I can be pretty hard to impress but Brandon Walker continues to show me something with the way he interacts with the live crowd in the flow of the show. He is keeping the fans engaged well and laughing. It is good stuff. We will be back there today, tomorrow and Friday at 10:55am on the Barstool Sportsbook YouTube channel. 

I was honestly a little anxious during Picks Central which is rare for me. I got hit up by Karim (producer of Dave Portnoy Show) to come on at 12:15 and knew I was facing a severe beating on there from Dave Portnoy after losing almost every pick in the College World Series and him calling me a moron publicly already that morning. It will be up today and I am not going to spoil it. I am still alive and breathing at least.

I took Tennessee +112 in the afternoon elimination game with Texas. For the 4th day in a row I got completely smoked in the early game as Texas won 8-4. Big T and a lot of Tennessee fans were going hard at me on Twitter about jinxing them so I let this After Dinner Mintz fly postgame at their fan base. There was a lot of bad blood between Tennessee fans and a lot of my network from 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge LSU days as the fan bases went at each other hard for the super regionals. I had to stick up for my friend who hosts Off The Bench T-Bob Hebert. After all, his retweet is how Barstool Sports found me and all this non sense began!

I did this video explaining how much I loved Mississippi State in the night Winners Bracket against Virginia as the Bulldogs had been my only winner in the CWS at 1-8. The irony of this was not lost on me as I feel like I spend half my Barstool Sports life battling with Brandon Walker and Mississippi State fans on Twitter.

Virginia came out demolishing the Bulldogs early. I did this mid game update as it was 4-0 UVA in the top of the 5th and State was still hitless but they were due!

The no hitter continued into the 8th and I was honestly dumbfounded at this point. Big Cat called me a witch in a text message Monday and I was starting to believe he might be right. I was preparing for my bet to get no hit when all hell broke loose in the 8th. State cut the lead to 4-2 with runners on 2nd and 3rd when UVA brought Barstool favorite closer Stephen Schoch into the game to face one of the SEC’s best hitters in Tanner Allen.  

Then this went down.

Pandemonium. Bedlam. The State fans rightfully went bananas as they now had a 5-4 lead after getting no hit the entire game with no hope. State added a 6th run in the inning to take two run lead. UVA fought back with one in the bottom of the 8th to make it 6-5. In the bottom of the 9th, stud closer Landon Sims shut the Cavs down and Mississippi State is now one win away from playing for their 1st National Title and I am 2-0 betting the Bulldogs in Omaha.

I have honestly never seen Brandon more genuinely happy in my 7 months of being at Barstool Sports. He genuinely thanked me for helping Grow the Game of college baseball the last couple of months which meant a lot to me. I went on a little bit of a limb to build college baseball at Barstool Sports and it is all coming together in Omaha in a big way.

Our crew hit a DJ post game party where everyone had a big time ESP Brandon. There was a huge crowd there as downtown Omaha has been a solid party all week. I finally called it around midnight and now it is time to face a brand new day! There is only one game tonight at 6pm between Vandy and Stanford in an elimination game. I have Vandy to win the CWS so I am hoping the ‘Dores can stay alive to get back to Kumar Rocker Friday against NC State.
