The NBA Title Is Completely Up For Grabs And That Absolutely Rules

The NBA's Final Four is officially set. After two #1 seeds and a #2 seed failed to make their Conference Finals, this is the group we're left with. You know what comes next. The "OMG the NBA is going to hate these ratings!!" crowd. Which to that I say

Why the hell should I or really anyone give a shit about TV ratings? As someone who actually watches the playoffs, this final four group is AWESOME. No repeat champions, no super teams, no Process, a completely wide open sprint to the Finals/title with four really solid teams. Yeah, even the Hawks and Trae Young. Give those dudes some goddamn respect. They went on the road and closed out a top 4 seed and top 5 defense. Then in the second round, while missing a starter and another main contributor in Bogdan Bogdanovic hurt, they ended the Process....in Philly. In a Game 7. Maybe instead of sucking the dicks of the Nets and Sixers all year/postseason people should have been paying more attention to the Hawks once Nate McMillan took over. They are as legit as any team in the league right now

For a league that hasn't been able to find any real sense of parity when it comes to the NBA Finals or championships (only 8 teams have won a title since 1999), it's refreshing as hell that we have a completely new crop of potential champions. Not only that, but we're about to see some big time stars get their first ring no matter how things break. We know for sure there are two locks for HOF players in Paul and Giannis. I'm going to say something controversial, but I think Paul George is creeping into HOF territory (7x All Star, 6x All NBA, 4x All NBA Defense, MIP, Steals Champ, All Rookie) and if he carries the Clippers to their first ever title without Kawhi, he gets even closer. Then we have someone like Trae Young who is becoming the ultimate villain on a team that nobody ever thought could make it this far. I'm not sure how anyone could not love where we've ended up this postseason.

I mean, none of these teams left have won a title in 45 years

again I ask, how could you not love that? Two of the teams have never won a title at any point in their existence. Think of the storylines

Chris PaulFinally gets the elusive championship that he's been searching for his entire career. Not only that, but he helps make the Suns a first time ever champ. One of the greatest point guards of this era finally reaches the top of the mountain. After getting so close for so long, that would be awesome to see

Paul George: Officially buries the narrative that he chokes in the playoffs. No more Pandemic P jokes. They die. He also probably stamps his ticket to the HOF. Another guy that would give a franchise their first title. We thought that might happen because of Kawhi and in spite of George. Now it may be because of him! Make no mistake, he's been mostly awesome in these playoffs, even in their Game 1 loss yesterday George was great.

Giannis: How many times have you heard the question "Can you win a title with Giannis as your best player?". If he brings the Bucks a title, that doubt immediately goes away. As a 2 time MVP and in his prime, he needs that ring. It's stupid and it shouldn't matter, but rings count when you're talking about someone's legacy. Now Giannis is the favorite to win the whole thing, can he finally deliver?

Trae Young: All the Hawks hear is about how stupid they are for passing on Luka for Trae. How that decision is going to haunt the franchise forever. Well last time I checked Luka has never made it out of the first round and Trae Young is about to play in the Conference Finals. If he leads this team to a title? All while this team has a total of zero (0) All Stars on the roster? Holy shit. That would be some 1995 Houston Rockets shit like when they won as a 6 seed, but at least they had Hakeem! If Trae Young is able to somehow, someway carry this Hawks team to a title, the world might explode.

So not only are the storylines there for the rest of these playoffs, but the teams we have and the quality of basketball they play is extremely high. If anything, these conference finals and NBA Finals should have better ratings because anything can happen. There is no team you can simply assume will win like in previous years. LeBron is out. Steph isn't there. The Superteam Nets are watching from their couch. It feels like we finally have exactly what most people beg for when it comes to the NBA which is unpredictability and I could not be more excited.
