The "I Need A Hero" Scene From Shrek 2 Is The Greatest Scene In Cinematic History

Not to step on Jeff D. Lowe's corner, since the D stands for DontYouDareStepOnMyCornerOrIWillKillYou, but I had to give some respect to the greatest scene in movie history after we heard the beautiful musical stylings of Bonnie Tyler during this week's episode of Loki.

That Shrek scene has it all. An absolute banger of a song. Action comparable to any Die Hard movie (we only acknowledge the first three). High stakes with Prince Charming about to woo the panties wedding ring off of Fiona. The big ol' Puss N Boots eyes. A collection of the biggest characters from the most classic fairy tales. And maybe the most dramatic moment ever where the giant gingerbread man (perfectly named Mongo) drowns in a watery grave while telling his little pal Gingy to be good.

Ughhhh, that moment messes me up just as much as Simba telling Mufasa to get up and Harry Stamper saying goodbye to Gracie Belle. George R.R. Martin couldn't have written a more physical and emotional painful death considering that poor dopey motherfucker took a boiling barrel of milk to the fucking dome and continued to fight the good fight in order for the hero riding the white stallion to save the day. Truly the stuff of legends that the Far Far Away locals still talk about in hushed tones.

You don't have to agree with my take or even like it. But you know damn well that song/scene were the perfect way to end the work week and are going to be stuck in your head for the rest of the night. If you are looking for something to get it out of your medulla oblangata, check out Bob Fox and I talk about Episode 2 of Loki.
