Live look at the current state of the Dallas Mavericks

Just to recap quickly. There was a report of some unrest within the Mavs front office. Mark Cuban promptly responded

Since that tweet….

1. They fired their GM

2. Their coach quit despite having years left on his deal

3. They reportedly pissed off their franchise cornerstone player

Sounds to me like maybe there was some meat on that bone that Cuban immediately called bullshit. I mean, who actively decides to stop coaching Luka? That feels weird. I feel like if you're an NBA coach you pray to the Basketball Gods to be able to ride the coattails of a player like that. Now Carlisle isn't perfect. He hasn't been past the first round in any season since his team won the title in 2011. That's not great considering it's now 2021. But in terms of coaching options now on the open market, he's for sure at the top or certainly near the top of the list in terms of available options.

You know who needs a coach?

That's right. The Boston Celtics. There's a line of thought that the Celts need to bring in a coach that has walked the walk before. Well, how about a player that won a title in Boston AND then another title as a coach? I'd say that fits. Plus, he also went to Worcester Academy so if you're telling me I can inject some of my beloved 508 into this team I am so on board it'll make your head spin.

My stance on the next Celts coach is pretty simple. I don't care who it is, as long as they are the best fit. As long as the Jays are down with it, so am I. While I have no idea if they feel that way about Carlisle, I certainly hope Brad is asking them.

If you're looking at potential head coach options, it's hard to ignore Carlisle's qualifications. Coaches with that resume him don't really hit the market all that often. Maybe this is why the Celts are taking their time. Remember when the Brad move first happened there was a report that they were going to talk to teams with coaches still in the playoffs? The Mavs were still playing. Maybe they knew this was going to be an option.

Either way, tough times right now for the Mavs. I need to hear how Cuban spins this now.
