11 Years Ago Today Drake Gifted The World With "Thank Me Later"

The Drake haters can suck it.

On this day in 2010 Drake entered the pantheon of rap greats by releasing Thank Me Later, his first official LP.

Hot off the heels of his breakthrough mixtape, So Far Gone the year before, Lil Wayne got his protege in the booth and studio with Boi-1da and Noah “40” Shebib like a man possessed so as to not lose any momentum.

Thank Me Later seemed to almost pick up where Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak left off. Drake managed to weave in and out of r&b soaked raps depicting his struggles with fame, authenticity, and girl problems. He displayed a rare vulnerability and truthfulness that set him apart from other artists and gained him a die hard audience.

The album would see Drake go tit for tat with Lil Wayne on “Miss Me”

He dedicated a song especially for the females on the Swizz Beatz banger "Fancy"

Teamed up with The-Dream on the bedroom jam “Shut It Down”

The gem that Kanye produced, which sounds like it was lifted directly off of 808s, "Find Your Love"

My personal favorite, "Show Me A Good Time",

And we can't forget the monster "Up All Night" that still goes off today.

The album let the world know that Drake wasn't a mixtape fluke and sounded the alarm that one of the best rappers in the game was a half-Jew former Nickelodeon star from Toronto.
