The Scottish National Anthem Is Absolutely ELECTRIC

This is arguably my favorite part of big international soccer tournaments. All these guys pouring their hearts out before a game to a song you've never heard before. Scotland hasn't been in a major tournament since the World Cup in 1998. That means nobody under the age of 30 probably remembers Scotland playing on the world stage and they did not disappoint with the anthem letting the world know in their first game of #Euro2020

And this is a home game for Scotland. The Game is being played Glasgow and even though attendance is severely and sadly limited by Covid you could hear the song ringing all through the country side

When you hear that song with the flag waving and the dog barking you have no choice but to come down from the Highlands in droves of hundreds…and thousands. My only complaint about this anthem is that one of these two didn't sing it

If one of these two sings the anthem when they play England later this week then Scotland will be an independent country by the end of the song. That is a fact. I am not even Scottish and I am ready to storm Buckingham Palace.

At the time of this writing Scotland is losing 1-0 at the half to Czech Republic. In 1998 Scotland got dusted out in the group stage. Only scored two goals and didn't get a win. I am guessing they will have similar results in this tournament. Having said that, the tournament is already better because of them. It was the same thing last time when the Irish were in it. There are now 24 countries in this Euro Tournament. I propose that there is a "fun country" exemption. Like, sure, Ireland and Scotland both usually suck but they CLEARLY have the best fans in Europe so just let them in. Let's have some fun. Let's have some viral fan moments. Let's have alcohol sales following those two countries go through the roof. Everyone wins.
