Tuukka Rask Says He Played Through A Torn Labrum In His Hip, Doesn't Want To Test Free Agency... HE'S NOT FUCKIN' LEAVING!

We all knew Rask was not completely healthy for a while now, and today he confirmed he played through a torn labrum in his hip that will require surgery. Insane that he played through the postseason and still posted a .919 SV% and a 2.36GAA. All the Rask haters will bitch and moan about how he shouldn't have been in the net at all if he wasn't 100%, but then if he didn't play we'd hear about how he always quits on his team yada yada yada. I've already seen a million 'Rask was being selfish by playing!!!' takes. The goal posts always move with the people who hate on Rask. We glorify guys playing through injuries in the playoffs... unless it's Tuukka Rask. But the bottom line is Bruce Cassidy (and the rest of the team, according to Patrice Bergeron) were behind him 100%. I'm guessing Rask was telling them he could go, and they let him go. Certainly didn't help that the defense fell apart in front of him. He battled, but ultimately they fell short.

That being said, if there was ever a game to play Jeremy Swayman, it would've been Game 4. B's were up 2-1 in the series, maybe could have seen if Swayman could've stolen a win for you and give Rask some rest. We can all talk about Cassidy's decision makings in the playoffs, but one thing is for certain, Rask did not quit on his team.

As for Rask's future? He doesn't want to be anywhere but Boston. Does not want to test free agency.

He's not fucking leaving… "I'm not going to play for anyone else other than the Bruins. This is our home."

Rask will miss the first few months of the season, looking at a January/February return (if he re-signs). We'll see Jeremy Swayman get a ton of games for sure, but the B's will still need to sign another veteran goalie to help carry the weight until Rask's return (sup LTIR). I would not hate a 2 year team friendly deal, Swayman is the future, let Rask help guide him there.
