Jay Z Trolling Noel Gallagher/Oasis By Playing 'Wonderwall' At Glastonbury Is Going Viral On Tik Tok

This is going viral on a bunch of Tik Tok accounts this week, so I figured I'd blog the full story....

Back in 2008, when Jay Z was announced as one of the Glastonbury headliners, there was a bit of backlash from the "rock n' roll" world - particularly, from Noel Gallagher of Oasis....

Surprise, surprise - Noel talking shit(e) about other artists!

Noel said he didn't think a hip-hop artist should've been given the prestigious Saturday night headliner slot, and that "people [weren't] going to go" with Jay Z at the top of the bill....

"Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don’t know about it. But I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong."

Jay Z heard that and decided he was gonna open his set with a clip of Noel's comments on the big screen, right into 'Wonderwall' to troll the Oasis guitarist, which the crowd just absolutely ate up….

Talk about @OldTakesExposed, huh?! Jay hit em with an 'OK Boomer' in 2008!

I mean, c'mon tho - you thought people weren't gonna go see JAY Z in 2008, Noel?!?! What's wrong with you?! 

The Chief walked back his comments months later, but "slagged off" Lewis Capaldi a little over a decade later and was trolled in the same fashion at Glastonbury 2019….

I love it all tho. Just a bit of cheeky banter from the lads in the music business; and these are unique, special moments that those crowds will remember forever.
