My Official Statement On The Missed Lifeline

I had known The Dozen Trivia Tournament was going to happen for quite some time. I've also long thought that my team, The Yak consisting of Big Cat, Rone, and myself were the strongest team. We are very strong in some categories and have baseline understanding of others. Our biggest rival and the owner of both of our losses is Frank and the Frankettes. We had an intense showdown with them in Match 100 where they handed us loss #2. After the match, despite Team Yak falling to the #3 overall seed, Frank let it be known who the two top teams were.

As a team, we appreciated that. We're also friends with those guys. While we're Team Yak, KB, Nick and Frank (on Tank Thursdays) are part of The Yak show on Youtube. We were hoping once the tournament draw came out to match up with them in the Finals of The Dozen Trivia Tournament. But last night, a match that way taped on May 4th aired between #1 seeded Frank and the Frankettes and #9 seeded Gen XYZ featuring Jake Marsh, Vibbs, and Large.

SPOILER ALERTS BELOW:

Now May 4th has been a day marked on my calendar for quite some time. Not because that's when The Dozen Trivia Tournament would start filming, but that was the due date for my daughter. She was actually born two weeks early, so I was home on paternity leave doing monotonous Dad things like changing diapers, feedings, and other household chores. I had also re-started the TB12 Method (which encourages you to drink at least 50% of your body weight in ounces of water per day) just three days earlier, so I was peeing a ton. That will matter in a moment.

That's just to give you an idea of what it's like doing the method. Anywho, we got our draw and due to travel and our 1st round bye, our team wouldn't start playing until Wednesday. So Tuesday I was free and clear. In the past, Frank and the Frankettes had used me as an NFL lifeline. I had been successful early, but got two or so wrong in a row and a missed call thrown in there and hadn't been used for several months. No hard feelings, but I'm always happy to help my friends out when I can. In those prior times, I'd never been given a heads up that they would maybe call, so it's tough to always be tethered to my phone while doing Dad stuff. On May 4th, I was not aware of anyone's schedules or gametimes, I was just focused on The Yak making it through to the next round and taking care of my family. Unfortunately, during one of my what was surely double digit uriniations that day, I got a facetime from my good friend Nick Turani. My phone was on silent/vibrate as my daughter was sleeping constantly throughout the day so I didn't feel it or hear anything.

I went downstairs and looked at my phone to see I had a missed Facetime and instantly knew this was bad. I texted Nick.I felt awful and after watching last night's matchup, feel even worse. I'd like to apologize to Frank and the Frankettes and all their fans. I was hoping they would make a run to the finals as they're a very fun team to watch and great at their craft. This was a telling story that team's have real fanbases which is awesome.

So for anybody that is looking to team to pull for, I would ask you to jump on The Yak.

You can catch us tomorrow at 7pm eastern squaring off against #6 seeded Team Smockin.
