There's a 6-Part Derek Jeter Documentary From The Producers of 'The Last Dance' Coming Out Next Year

Emmy-winning director Randy Wilkins (“86-32,” “Docket 32357,” “Dear…”) will tell the story of Jeter’s professional and personal triumphs and challenges. The documentary series will use Jeter’s journey as a vessel to tell a larger cultural story that explores race, family, community, rivalries and more. The heartbeat of the project is candid access to the man who helped restore shine to a team, a city, and a culture.

The series is being executive produced by Spike Lee, Mike Tollin, Mandalay Sports Media, Excel Sports Management’s media arm Excel Media, and Connor Schell, in association with The Players’ Tribune and Major League Baseball. It is slated to premiere on ESPN and ESPN+ in 2022.

Absolutely hell fucking yes. I think every Yankee fan watched 'The Last Dance' in 2020 and hoped one day we'd get something like that related to the late 90's Bronx Bombers. Well, I feel we couldn't have gotten a better surprise than a 6 part candid doc on The Captain.

I can already hear the bitching and moaning from the likes of White Sox Dave who can't go to sleep at night without reciting Derek Jeter's defensive metrics in the last 5 years of his career. To those peasants I tell you to eat shit and let me drink your tears when this comes out. I LOVE how much anti-Yankees fans are going to hate this.

Who knows what exclusive footage we get that hasn't been seen yet, but this coming from the producer of the Jordan documentary has me giddy. That dude crushed it and if there's one thing ESPN does well still it's documentaries. I do hope there's an episode dedicated to all of Jeets' ex's because well…that speaks for itself.

The A-Rod episode will be awesome too if we're assuming 'The Last Dance' director does his job and uncovers the real shit that was going down. Everything from 96, 98, 99, and 2000 will be straight up porn. Give this to me right now.

P.S. Nothing happened in 2004 so we can skip right on by that one. I mean we only have six episodes no need to include ever year.
