This Potential Julio Jones Trade Would Make Any Reasonable Man Irate

I guess Pro Football Focus' new Friday social strategy is to just say the most outlandish shit possible to piss me off. Last week, it was Emory Jones going No. 6 overall and now it's the Atlanta Falcons giving their best player away for a bag of footballs.

It has been well-documented that Julio Jones is probably going to be traded. It is what it is. And even though the Falcons have to do it because they've put themselves in a salary cap situation which any 8-year-old who'd ever played Monopoly would find irresponsible, they're not just going to give him away.

The best receiver in the NFL over the last decade is available. If a contender wants him, it sure as hell better cost a lot more than a second and fourth round pick. Does nobody remember what the Jets got for Jamal Adams? Sure, he's still on a rookie contract, but he yielded the Jets two firsts and a third. And New York was at no less leverage disadvantage with Adams demanding to be traded than Atlanta is with its cap situation.

Jones probably has three years of elite production left and I think that's being fairly conservative. He only played in nine games in 2020, but had more than 4,500 yards in the three seasons prior. As long as he's able to stay relatively healthy, whatever team gets Jones is still getting one of the best wideouts of this century.

Turn that second and fourth into a first and third and we're cooking. If the Falcons give Jones away for any package that does not include a first round pick, just move the team.
