Hartford Celebrated The Hoops Team Making Its First Ever NCAA Tournament By Fucking Over Every Athlete And Officially Moving To Division III
And there it is. Hartford decided to fuck over every single athlete, coach and potential athlete. This all comes less than two months after Hartford made its first ever NCAA Tournament. Two months after we heard all about The Neighborhood and what John Gallagher built with the city and the program.

I understand there's money involved. That's always the case with college sports and why I always laugh at people saying it's not a business. It's very much a business, especially when you're talking football and basketball. The problem here is the President is a fucking asshole. That actually might be too kind. He's more of a piece of shit loser. That's a little more accurate. Instead of having the balls to do this himself and explain it logically, he got caught via Zoom asking a professor to do his dirty work.
[The Day] - Now we have an answer. Sources at the university obtained — or actually took a screen shot — of recent e-mail messages sent between professor Warren Goldstein and University president Greg Woodward. Goldstein was teaching a history class via Zoom on one side of his screen and e-mailing with Woodward with the other. Members of the class saw the exchange:
President Woodward (to Goldstein): "Use your voice. Write an editorial. Get Senate and other far groups to pass resolutions or write letters to the Courant in support of the move."
Goldstein: "I thank you for this wonderful response, Greg. I don't know how much organizing I can do, but I will definitely write something, hopefully for the Courant."
President Woodward: "Warren, it's best if you just speak to the Mission of the University and the disconnect that has grown over the years between D1 sports and the university mission. Be a faculty member with smart opinions on a more equitable experience for all your students, wellness, health, etc. It will be a part of the puzzle that needs to be said, and you can let me, and the spin doctors do the numbers."
Fuck that guy. That's the big takeaway here. Mind you all this was and is going down during and right after Hartford made the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever. Now you have the President of the school trying to use backdoor ways to get rid of Division I sports and move it down to Division III. That guy sucks. If you're that worried about money and you think it's the right move, have the balls to do it yourself. You publicly write letters and talk about the reasons why. Don't try and get a professor involved and then use the terms 'me and the spin doctors do the numbers.' That just shows how big of a fucking dickhead you are.
At the same time, UC Riverside decided to announce sports will continue:
What pisses me off about all of this too is how the athletes were told this. I had numerous guys and girls DM me the email. An email to say the program that you're playing for is going to Division III in a couple years. Yep, that really shows they care. Just send out that email blast to a couple hundred people and high five each other. Oh and for that money talk? Not even guaranteed.
