Yankees Fans Turning Their Backs To The Astros*** While They Were Batting Was One Of The Corniest, Lamest, Funniest, Bravest Things I've Ever Seen
I could not believe what I was seeing watching the Astros take on the Yankees last night. The fans had this one circled on the calendar for a while, the Astros first trip to New York since all the cheating allegations came out so they were going to make the Astros pay big time. I witnessed some of the most heroic acts these eyes have seen. One act in particular stood out from the third inning. The Yankees were up 3-1 after Giancarlo sent one into outer space and Yankee fans were feeling it, the buzz in the stadium could be felt through the TV screen. Aaron Boone said it felt like a playoff game even though the Yanks just crept above .500. They really wanted Houston to know how they felt about the cheating allegations from four (4) years ago and that they still felt robbed. They wanted to be vindicated even though only 5 Astros were still on the team from back then.
So while Myles Straw was up at-bat the bleacher creatures took it upon themselves to really give it to the Astros. They stood in unison and turned their backs to the Astros and Straw who as at bat. It was incredible. A truly momentous sight to see. So brave of all those fans with the last names on the jerseys to show the Astros and Straw in particular, "we don't condone what you did and we don't accept it. Give Judge his 2017 AL MVP!" So with noted good guy, Domingo Germán on the mound the crowd the crowd was letting Houston know what they did was disgusting, unacceptable and wouldn't be tolerated. But Germán got Straw to ground out so naturally they cheered for that. I like to think there is a world where Rob Manfred turns on the TV, sees the Yankee fans going nuts and turning their backs and saying "you know what, strip the Astros. Take the rings away". Maybe that's what they were hoping for by protesting Myles Straw up at bat.
That wasn't the only thing the Yankees crowd did to rattle Houston, they held up….TRASH CANS! Inflatable trash cans! Get it, because the Astros banged on trash cans in 2017. They yelled "FUCK ALTUVE", they screamed "HOUSTON CHEATERS" during BP, they pulled out all the stops tonight. One guy even dressed up like Oscar the Grouch! It was a hoot! I get the Yankees fans being upset, I really do. But good god the standing up with your back turned towards the Astros batting was so god damn dorky. It was one of the corniest things I've ever seen in a baseball stadium and I've been to a TON of Orioles games. It's up there with the Orioles fan who used to stand up and turn his back to guess who… Alex Rodriguez when he was on the Yankees and he cheated. I'm also just happy that document has been kept sealed, Yankees wouldn't want that getting out, would they!

It's all so damn funny. It's very Yankeeish to turn your back to a team who cheated at a game and then applaud the domestic abuser who is literally on the mound that night. Very heroic and big of the Yankee fans tonight for standing up for what is right and absolutely embarrassing not only the Astros and really showing them, but embarrassing themselves in the process. The dorkiest thing I've ever seen. If I was MLB I'd ban fans from Yankee stadium again because this was so bad. I just have so much respect for the brave soldiers in the right field bleachers for this game who took it upon themselves to really give the middle finger to Houston. They were so disgusted they couldn't even watch. Proud of those fans!
