Chris Beard Publicly Embracing Being Hated By Texas Tech Because He Left Them For Texas Is AWESOME For College Basketball

What a line. I fucking love it. More importantly, we need more people like Chris Beard. Embrace being hated by a fanbase or an entire conference or the country. Stop trying to make everyone like you. Who gives a shit? That's especially true when you're making an absurd amount of money and coaching a loaded Texas team next year. Yeah, that's right Texas is loaded in year 1 for Beard. Look at what he's brought back for an extra year + transfers:

Bringing back Courtney Ramey and Andrew Jones. Getting Timmy Allen (Utah), Christian Bishop (Creighton), Devin Askew (Kentucky) and Dylan Disu (Vanderbilt) in transfers. They were all starters on high major programs. Allen and Disu scored over 15 per game. Putting all that together with Beard and his system there? They might end up the best team in the Big 12. He runs that no-middle defense, offense he'll run high ball screens and he'll have three lead guards plus playmakers on the wing. 

But going back to the point of this. I want college hoops to be fun again. Stop everything being all buddy-buddy. Embrace rivalries and hatred. It's rare that we see a coach leave for another school in conference. So guess what? Texas Tech doesn't give a shit that you made them actually have a basketball program. Texas Tech doesn't give a shit about you bringing them to the title game. They care that you left for Texas. Not even just in the same conference, in the same state. You are publicly enemy number 1. You are no longer a Tech guy. I hope he keeps embracing it. Make comments about how much money Texas Tech is going to make that night. Come in and throw out guns down. I don't even know if that's a thing, but do it when they hit you with horns down.
