What Are Your Top 3 Pop Punk Songs To Scream The Lyrics To While Driving Alone?

Great question, Brandon Cochran. A mighty fine question to talk about on a sunny Monday afternoon. There's not a cloud in the sky, it's perfect drinking outside weather, and tomorrow will be even better as it gets into the mid-70's. And drinking outside means one thing and one thing only- you need a playlist to keep the people going. Now, I know the kids these days listen to music made by computers, and that's fine n all. Whatever floats your boat. But back in my day, we listened to a little thing called pop punk. And by back in my day, I mean every day since I was 11 years old and got Enema of the State. Sorry it's just the best genre of music, I don't make the rules.

So after Brandon asked me, I didn't think too long, I just fired from the hip. Figured that was the only way to get the most pure answer. And my answer is:

Pretty good. "Cute without the E", obviously makes the list (yes you can plug in any song from Tell All Your Friends, but I went with the classic).

"My Friend's Over You" I could hear arguments for removing. In fact, I would probably put "Way Away" here or something a bit screamier than "My Friend's Over You", but you can never go wrong with New Found Glory.

And then "The Best Of Me" which might be up there with "Ocean Avenue" as one of the best songs, if not THE best song, ever written. Hyperbole...but not really? I dare the Beatles to write a song as good as Ocean Avenue.

Others chimed in with their picks:

Let's go Chels!!! Also, sup? Great Escape is a PERFECT song for this. All time sing a long, definitely worthy of the top 10.

Robbie went 3/3 here. Any song that goes "HERE I GO, SCREAM MY LUNGS OUT" makes the list for sure. Also, Yellowcard is awesome. Then his 2 and 3, both perfect. "I Miss You" could also fill in for STFTK when Tom hits that "WHERE ARE YEWWWWW", oh buddy.

Who knew Owen was one of us??? Vindicated is a fantastic top pick. Jude Law And A Semester Abroad is good…but if you are going with a Brand New song it has to be Seventy Times 7, right?

Another big time top 3:

Do not sleep on Sum 41. Between Fat Lip, In Too Deep, and Still Waiting that's 3 big ones right there. And then "The Anthem", which plenty of people gave love to, is always in the mix.

I thought this was a very interesting list. You don't hear much about The Offspring anymore but they have some bangers that cannot be denied. Got a lot of "Ohio Is For Lovers" which I never loved but got it a lot. And obviously Welcome To The Black Parade is without a doubt a very good choice.

I'll take Sweetness as a number 1 any time, any place, any where.

I could read lists and make a million top 3's and never run out of combos. I thought I'd see more Paramore, more Panic!, and some Flavor of the Weak. Plus, Box Car Racer. I mean I could do this forever. What are your top 3?

And for those asking for a playlist, I made a 60 song playlist (yes, so it can double as a power hour) of some of my favorites.

Enjoy!
