In Honor of the Yankees Trading For Rougned Odor Let's Enjoy The Time He Brought Out His Inner Tyson And Clocked Jose Bautista

Well alrighty then….certainly a bizarre trade to see on this Tuesday afternoon. Rougned Odor, who was DFA'd recently by Texas, is heading to the Bronx in exchange for two lower level prospects. The Rangers are paying most of his remaining salary, but what the hell!?

Even more surprising than the trade itself is that Odor has multiple 30 homer seasons under his belt. Rougned Odor, really? I thought Gardner was the main guy benefiting from juiced balls but I guess not. The infielder has some lefty pop which Cashman is always looking for, but he's rather terrible otherwise. Career OBP of .289 while striking out a ton. Derek Dietrich is a flat out better baseball player than Odor and he's sitting comfortably in Pennsylvania where the Yankees alternate site is located. I'm a Dietrich guy so excuse me for my bias in not liking this trade (unless it means Dietrich is getting the call). 

The scary part of this is why it's happening. Is Gio Urshela's elbow acting up again? Is Tyler Wade being sent down? Do the Yankees want to start DJ at first more? This is a very random move that has me scratching my head. Odor doesn't play short so I feel like Wade isn't the casualty here, making me even more nervous. 

In the mean time, let's look at the positives of Odor. For starters, he owns two horses that he received when the Rangers gave him a contract extension a few years back. I would hope he rides these horses regularly and will be using them for transportation to and from Yankee Stadium. If not this bozo doesn't deserve the pinstripes. 

The other positive is he knows how to fight and can be deployed regularly in brawls when necessary. Baseball draws never usually involve actually clean pitches and/or fighting techniques. When Jose Bautista slid hard into 2nd a few years ago he had no idea Tyson was waiting on the other side.

All time baseball moment. The casual fan shouldn't know who Rougned Odor is but because of that brawl I feel like a large number do. Get fucked Bautista.
