FSU's Tournament Off To A Hot Start - Leonard Hamilton Ruptured His Achilles Getting Off The Team Bus, Says It's Nothing Because He Grew Up In Gastonia

[Source] - Hamilton told media members Monday morning on a conference call that he fell coming off the team bus Sunday night when he misjudged how far down the step was, took a misstep onto the curb and fell.

"I could tell you some stories about Gastonia that would make this ruptured Achilles look like Sunday school. We can move on past that, believe me."

WE GOT A COACH INJURY! I repeat, we have a coach injury. Listen, a ruptured Achilles sounds fucking awful. Just one of those injuries that makes you wince when you hear it. I want nothing more than to keep my Achilles in one piece because it's just fucking painful. But we're talking about Leonard Hamilton here. The man is allegedly 72 years old. The man has coached in the NBA and college hoops while turning Florida State into a new blood. He's not going down without a fight. Shit, like he said this is Sunday School since he grew up in Gastonia, NC. A true #basketballguy through and through. 

He even had some quality jokes about it. 

Hamilton also joked about an alternative way in which he suffered the injury.

"What happened was I was chasing a referee after the game the other night in the parking lot and something happened," Hamilton said. "He's not in good shape either, I just want you to know that."

That's a man I want to play for. One who cracks jokes about chasing down a ref in the parking lot. I'd also put it at 50/50 that he'd do this. We're talking college refs here. They stink. Good news is he's still walking though. What would be better news? If we get a 2021 version of this: 

I'm actually now all-in on Florida State. You're telling me this isn't the start to the title run? Lose to Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament, your coach gets injured and bam Final Four trip. We could talk about Scottie Barnes or RaiQuan Gray or MJ Walker. But nope, this is all about juju and you don't rupture an Achilles without getting good juju on your side.
