It's Officially March - Michigan Media Guy Goes On A Rant About How Big 10 Teams Would Be Undefeated if They Played Gonzaga's Schedule

Ah, the sign of the times. For some it's the longer days. For others it might be hearing the birds chirping. For me, it's this. It's talking about Gonzaga's schedule and how everyone else would be undefeated if they played Gonzaga's schedule. It's talking about playing in the WCC just means Gonzaga can't win in the Tournament, as if they didn't play in the title game in 2017. How you talk about Gonzaga is pretty much a clear cut way to determine how much you know about college basketball and when you start watching.

Could you imagine if Gonzaga played a Big 10 school? It'd be a blood bath

Oh right, Iowa would be 24-0 if they played Gonzaga's schedule. But wait, apparently that game doesn't count because it wasn't a league game:

So Gonzaga would essentially be Purdue this year? Right. Listen, I don't want to do the whole I know more than you, but there are advanced stats like KenPom and Torvik and Haslam and well, basically anything that says just how damn good this Gonzaga team is. Or you could just use your eyeballs and watch them play. 15-5 in the Big 10 is hilarious. How would they ever survive the likes of playing Northwestern, Minnesota, Penn State, Indiana and Nebraska? Fight for their lives there.

I didn't get a Tournament last year. I have no Kentucky this year. I've been a dad for 18 months now. I'm basically wired to not sleep and got PLENTY of time on my hands to start arguing and this is the battle I'm fighting this year. The dumbest fucking thing we do is sit here and talk about how Gonzaga wouldn't be great in a big time conference. They beat Iowa with ease on a neutral (top-3 Big 10 team). They beat Kansas by 12 (2nd place in Big 12). They beat Virginia by 23 (won the ACC). BUT HOW WOULD THEY DO IN THESE CONFERENCES? Just stop. That said, this might be the ultimate Big J sort of tweet:

Fucking roasted them fake Woj.

No one is arguing that these Big 10 teams wouldn't win the WCC or go undefeated in league play. But you gotta schedule Gonzaga's full schedule if you want to get to 24-0. Gonzaga played the 111th toughest nonconference schedule in the country. Iowa played 280, Michigan played 160. Illinois was the only team to schedule a tougher nonconference schedule and the only reason that's close is Gonzaga had its game against Baylor canceled.

PS: The Big 10 hasn't won a title in 20 years, gotta wonder if playing in the conference hurts teams come Tournament time
