Marchand Calls Tom Wilson's Hit On Carlo "Bullshit" And A "Fucking Cheap Shot", Bruins Unload And Beat Caps 5-1

Honestly where do I start? Lots to unpack in this one. Obviously Tom Wilson's high hit is the story, but the Bruins responded with a massive 5-1 win. Let's get into it.

1ST PERIOD:

Brad Marchand opened the scoring after an unbelievable feed from Bergeron with Schultz on his back. 1-0 Bruins.

Tom Wilson threw a high hard hit on Brandon Carlo… and it WASN'T EVEN A PENALTY. It's definitely gonna be a suspension but how the fuck do you not call a penalty on the ice? Carlo needed to be helped off and would not return..

2ND PERIOD:

Patrice Bergeron had words with Tom Wilson before the puck dropped for the 2nd period. First scrum came right away after the first whistle in the 2nd, Dowd with a penalty for roughing. Bruins went to work on the PP but nothing came of it.

Finally we saw Jarred Tinordi!!!! the new guy square off with Tom Wilson. Welcome to Boston 84.

Shortly after the fight Trent Frederic extended the Bruins lead to 2-0, awesome feed from McAvoy to find him. 2-0 Bruins.

Then the top line connected to make it 3-0 Bruins. Doesn't get much prettier than that.

Brad Marchand scored his second of the night on the back door to make it 4-0 Bruins, what a look from Matt Grzelcyk. Bruins poured it on in the 2nd.

3RD PERIOD:

David Krejci with the SAUCER to Nick Ritchie early in the 3rd. 5-0 Bruins.

Jakub Vrana spoiled Jaro Halak's shut out with 6:24 left in the 3rd. 5-1 Bruins. Quite a release, nothing Halak could do.

FINAL: Boston 5, Washington 1

- Charlie Coyle was removed from the COVID 19 List and was good to go tonight. Sean Kuraly got the scratch after a tough game on Wednesday night. Anders Bjork to the 4th line with Studnicka and Wagner.

- Absolutely BRUTAL high hit on Brandon Carlo from Tom Wilson. Just no fucking need for it. Carlo would not return. Even more frustrating since Carlo has been your 2nd best defenseman this year behind McAvoy. Should be a suspension for Wilson. Fuck that hit. Fuck the refs for not calling it a penalty, that put the onus on the players to take care of it, and what do you know Wilson fought twice.

- Carlo was taken to the hospital by ambulance. No other update.

- Good on Jarred Tinordi for squaring off with Wilson. No better way to endear yourself to fans. Welcome to Boston, 84! Loved Bergeron giving him props in the penalty box after he scored. 

- Marchand during the first intermission called Wilson's hit fucking bullshit and a cheap shot. 2 goal night for him. He's on a 4 game point streak (3G, 3A). Bergeron added a goal and an assist of his own (and only played like a whopping 14 minutes tonight).

- After Ovi's $5k cup check on Wednesday night Trent Frederic followed up with a goal and a fight, just an assist shy of the Gordie Howe Hat Trick… 

He cracks me up, dude just has no fear. Nice to see him chipping in offensively.  ps all Frederic Fight Club shirts have been restocked in all sizes.

- I can't say enough good things about Charlie McAvoy. Man is he having an unreal start to the year. 2 apples for CHUCK NORRIS. Him and Grzelcyk are gonna have to continue to lead the way if Carlo is out long term.

- Year of Ritchie rages on. He recorded his 7th goal in the 3rd period off a great feed from Krejci.

- Jaro Halak with a quiet night. Made 20 of 21 saves. Did his job. Thought he bounced back well after the debacle vs. the Islanders.

Bruins host the Devils for an early Sunday night game. Rask in net. Time to build off tonight. Puck drops at 5 pm.

It was a great night to win a hockey game.
