Since 1883, The Oneonta Family YMCA has been listening and responding to our community amid generations of local families. 137 years later, 2020 has turned everything upside down.
Despite the devastating impact of COVID-19, we have been serving our members and the community from day one of this pandemic.
The reality is COVID-19 has significantly impacted future access to The Oneonta Family YMCA. The conditions imposed by New York State put us in a very challenging situation to survive long term. Too many YMCA’s are closing due to COVID-19. Our community wants and needs our Y in so many ways - we hear it every single day, “The Oneonta Y can’t close”, “We don’t know what we’d do without the Y.”
We are preparing and planning to weather this unprecedented storm. In all honesty, the only way we will come out of this is with support from our community. Now more than ever, your help is needed. With your support and many others just like you, the doors to The Y will be remain open for everyone!
Our Y keeps our community safe by teaching swim lessons and training lifeguards, we keep kids healthy and active in gymnastics and youth sports, we provide safe quality childcare so parents can work and we keep everyone healthy through wellness programs that fight chronic illness, build healthy habits and embrace interactive socialization.
The Oneonta Family YMCA is here to lift up the most vulnerable among us, to nurture the healthy minds and bodies of everyone in our community, and connect people to each other so they feel like The Y is a place they truly belong. We are here for you and are doubling down on our commitment to serve you and keep you and your families safe, strong and healthy.
Life is about blessings and gratitude. We are blessed for the opportunity to serve this community and the people who want and need our Y.
