Sacha Baron Caron Wore A Bulletproof Vest In Several "Borat" Sequel Scenes And Won't Make Another Because It's "Too Dangerous"

EW - Say your goodbyes to Borat Sagdiyev: he's not coming back.

Sacha Baron Cohen revealed to ET that last year's Borat Subsequent Moviefilm — a sequel to the 2006 mockumentary Borat: Culture Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan — would be his last.

"It got too dangerous," Baron Cohen told ET's Matt Cohen. "There were a couple of times I had to put on a bulletproof vest to go and shoot a scene, and you don't want to do that too many times in your life. I was pretty lucky to get out this time, so no, I'm not doing it again. I'm going to stay with the scripted stuff."

"You can be physically assaulted. You can even be shot," he says to EW. "I never broke character thought internally, and this is an old thing to talk about since I've never talked about it, is that mentally, while I'm still fully in character to the person that I'm with, I mentally taking notes of things that are useful for the movie.

I was tempted to make some "oh acting is sOoOoOoO dangerous, how can we ever understand the plight of the Hollywood actor?" jokes, but I think he actually has a point here. He's not saying he's fighting in Iraq, but man, he really does open himself to some sketchy and dangerous situations when he makes these Borat movies. When you have to strap on a bulletproof vest to feel comfortable shooting scenes, maybe that's when it's gone too far. The alternative would be he doesn't go 100% all in with the character, and that would be a disservice to everyone.

Orrrrrrr.....or he just has to say this because it's getting harder and harder to make Borat movies. It worked the first time because nobody know who he was. Social media was hardly even a thing in 2006. I'm not positive how it worked the 2nd time, but it sounds like it was a painful experience. To do it a 3rd time? That sounds impossible. So if there is even a shot in hell he ever makes another, he has to say there never will be one. Just gotta throw everyone off the scent for...30 years.

In terms of all time characters go, Borat is up there in the top tier. A complete game-changer in all aspects. So if he truly is done (which I doubt, I assume Borat will always be around in some way or another), we thank him for his service. Salut.
