So It Turns Out The Rita's In Fells Point Was Actually A Front For Cocaine Trafficking

Rita's

Bizjournals.com The owner of a Rita’s Italian Ice franchise in Fells Point has been indicted along with eight other defendants in connection with running what federal officials say was a Baltimore-based cocaine distribution organization. Kedrick “Ricky” Jenifer, 43, of Bowie, who co-owns both the Rita’s and a Baltimore-based online apparel shop known as World Fed Apparel Inc., purchased Rita’s with illegal drug proceeds and used it to “maintain the appearance of legitimate income,” according to an affidavit released Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney’s office. Flavor Factory Inc., the entity that owns Rita’s, was formed in August. Jenifer also is accused of using a downtown real estate firm to facilitate the acquisition of at least seven rental properties in a scheme also designed to launder drug proceeds. He has been charged with conspiracy to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. He was arrested Oct. 9 and is scheduled to go before a federal judge for a detention hearing at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Get caught running a multi-million dollar cocaine ring in Baltimore? Better call Saul!

This is really shocking though. A cocaine ring in Baltimore. What’s next? Murder? But I thought Fells Point was a safe-haven of sorts. A place for douchey crossfitters and marathoners to roam about with short pink shorts and boat shoes on, not a care in the world. So I guess there’s a lot more to Fells than meets the eye. One second you’re enjoying a delicious Italian ice, the next second you’re doing lines of blow off a frozen custard and sucking dicks for more. Life comes at you fast.
